While meditating on the couch in my lounge in the wee hours of this morning (around 2am), a powerful, never before experienced force overcame me.

It was the weirdest sensation I’ve ever experienced, and believe me, I’ve experienced some seriously weird phenomena during my many years of practising meditation and other expanded states of awareness.

After allowing my mind to drift to the farthest reaches of awareness, and no doubt into unconsciousness, I suddenly became consciously aware of my physical surroundings, and a powerful, enveloping, penetrating force that subdued both mind and body. It was like a great numbing energy radiating around and through me.

I’m not really sure how to class this experience… all I can say is that it was an epoch kind of weirdness that left me feeling as if I’d been raised from the dead!

Enjoy…

1. Set the intention to have an out-of-body experience – read a chapter of a book on the subject before bedtime; this serves as a powerful intention that says “this is what I want to experience”, or repeat affirmations while falling asleep “tonight I will have a conscious OBE”

2. Interupt your normal sleeping pattern – set your alarm to wake you up at 4am then read about OBEs for 30-minutes before lying back down and focusing your thoughts away from your physical body (in the first-person, visualise yourself walking around your home and observing objects or imagine being at your favourite holiday destination)

3. Practice deep meditation with the goal of learning how to totally relax your physical body to the point to where it falls to sleep (limbs become heavy and difficult to move), while your mind remains awake and active (in this body asleep/mind awake state, you can then focus your thoughts away from your physical body as per tip two and then incorporate affirmations into the routine “now I am out-of-body” or “now I shift my conscious awareness to my energy body”

4. Practice what lucid dreamers call ’state testing’ throughout your normal waking day by saying “am I awake, dreaming or out-of-body right now” then check your state of reality by doing something simple, like looking at your hands and using your thoughts to try to change them in some way… do this 10 to 20 times daily and eventually you will naturally start doing this during your night time experiences too, and when you try to change your hands in some way during these experiences – they will change and you will then become “aware”, and that’s when things will get interesting, whether you become aware during a lucid dream or an OBE

5. Keep a journal – write everything down, dreams including fragments of dreams, visions while meditating, out-of-body experiences, because journaling about your experiences acts as a powerful intention, with writing down your experiences you’re saying “I desire to have more experiences”

I’ve noticed a strong correlation between doing energy work and enjoying more OBE/Astral Projection activity… just wondering if anyone else has experienced similar results?

Typically, when I do just 20-30 minutes of focused breathing prior to doing an OBE/Astral Projection session, I achieve more results than if I don’t do any focused breathing before a session.

Obviously, one of the reasons I get more results when doing energy work is because energy work is highly conductive to generating a deeply relaxed state, which is an absolute MUST for achieving expanded states of awareness such as OBE/Astral Projection.

And I think behind the scenes, the major energy centres (chakras) of the first nonphysical body, which is one of the vehicles of consciousness we use during out-of-body/astral travel experiences, are being greatly stimulated during this type of energy work.

The more research I do on energy work, the more convinced I am that balancing and unblocking the energy centres and the conduits that connect our physical bodies and nonphysical bodies (and further connecting to our spiritual source), is absolutely essential to achieving profound states of awareness.

Personally, I see OBE/Astral Projection as a major tool for experiencing the Earth-Life-System as a whole, and therefore, a means to better understanding the Human Experience and the true nature of our existence – while still in physical form!
